The Rich are Killing Us– Literally!

The super-rich 1% are responsible for more carbon emissions than 1/3 of humanity! That's 5 billion people!! Their emissions will cause the heat deaths of 1.3 million in 10 years. I'm gobsmacked that we've tolerated such behavior among us. Any other group were killing people at such a rate there would warrant an all-out war against them, much like the Nazi's extermination of Jews fomented. But somehow our infatuation with capitalism keeps the rich outside our scrutiny, this despite their astonishing rise in the share of created wealth they amass, meanwhile avoiding taxes or any other compulsory contributions to society. How have they so hypnotized we the people?

Context: Why Define Art?

I have a friend who cannot tell green from red. Is there any point to defining the two? Only insofar as it is useful. For him it doesn't really matter; he can live his life perfectly well without the distinction. But when he comes to a streetlight he had better know the difference or he might die, so then it becomes crucial to know the definition. His will of course be different from mine. For each of us there are two reasons for the definition; 1) to negotiate our own reality and 2) to be able to talk with others about it.  Most of us will never need the definition clarified, but for artists and art lovers it's pretty important to know what it is we are experiencing.
